i will leave this town,
and never visit any city you’ve looted of comfort,
any city that gives you shelter,
where the sun became cold,
is enemy territory.
i will leave and shed the face you’ve birthed,
mutilate it,
and peel off anything that you may recognise.
i will paint over where your fingers dug in my body.
i will leave and carry no fabric that you may have seen on me.
i will leave and never again shall i share a cup of tea with you.
i will leave,
because though you brought me into this world,
you’ve punished me for it.
all the world’s scorn could not hold a candle to yours.
i will leave,
because i have never once feared God like i did you,
and God’s only mercy toward me was your abandonment,
and thats why i must leave.

the first five lines are incredible. “looted of comfort” is a painful and interesting way to describe this particular shade of pain.
really good poem! 🤍
WHY AM I JUST SEEING THIS!? Holy moly amazing!!
